E.S.E. stands for Easy Serving Espresso. It uses pods, which are small disks with a diameter of 44-45mm. The correct dose of freshly ground coffee (7 grams) is optimally pressed and pre-packed between two layers of fine filter paper to make the pod.
How does the pod system work?
The coffee pod is placed in the brewing chamber of the pod machine and water runs through it. The brewing machine is designed to consistently produce an optimal quality espresso by ensuring the perfect fit between: a) the coffee pod characteristics and b) the machine parameters: these being temperature and pressure of the water, and the geometrical shape of the brewing chamber.
Why is the pod system easier to use than a traditional one?
Because the coffee producer has already ground the beans and pressed the required amount of powder into the coffee pod, so all you have to do is flick the switch.
Why is the pod system cleaner and more hygienic than a traditional one?
The coffee powder is encapsulated inside the coffee pod so there is no spillage of it inside or outside the machine. After use the coffee pod is simply removed from the machine without any dispersion of coffee powder or drips of water.
How does the pod system deliver consistent quality?
In the traditional espresso making process there are four variables determining the quality of the final product: beans, grinding, machine and experience of the operator.In the pod system the grinding process and the experience of the operator - who had to perform the grinding process and ensure the correct amount and pressure of powder - are now performed by the coffee producer and included in the coffee pod. The two remaining variables - beans and machine remain resonably constant for the final user who is left to enjoy the perfect cup every time.
How many beverages can I make with each pod?
Each tea, herbal tea or coffee pod is single-serve.
How long do the pods last?
Each pod is packed individually and sealed under Nitrogen gas. This controlled environment maintains the contents as fresh as when first packaged for up to 18 months. However, we turn our stock over on a monthly basis so you can expect your pods to be a maximum of 1-2 months old on delivery.

How do I make an espresso?
If not already on, turn machine on and wait until warm (usually a couple of minutes)
Insert a coffee pod in the brewing chamber.
Close the brewing chamber
Put cup under the spout
Run water through the brewing chamber by pressing the button in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Stop water once you have the desired amount.

How do I make a herbal tea?
It is the same process as the one to make an espresso. You just need to use the chosen beverage pod instead of an espresso one.
If not already on, turn machine on and wait until warm (usually a couple of minutes)
Insert a pod in the brewing chamber.
Close the brewing chamber
Put cup under the spout
Run water through the brewing chamber by pressing the button in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Stop water once you have the desired amount.

Can I easily switch between making an espresso and a tea?
Yes you can. All you have to do is run some hot water through the brewing chamber between beverages. Eg. Suppose you have just made an espresso and you want to make a lemon tea. Remove the espresso coffee pod, close the brewing chamber and run some hot water through the machine for a few seconds. This will clean the chamber and spout from any residue or taste of the previously made espresso. Now you can place the Lemon Tea pod in the brewing chamber and make your tea.
How do I use the milk auto-frother?
If not already on, turn machine on and wait until warm (usually a couple of minutes)
Insert the feeding pipe of the auto-frother directly into the milk container
Put cup under the auto-frother
Turn on the steam by pressing the button in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Stop the steam once you have desired amount of milk in your cup.

How do I use the steam wand?
To properly texture the milk by using the wand actually requires some experience...

What is the ordinary maintenance to be carried out on the pod machine?
These pod machines are designed to be easy to use and require minimal maintenance. As a general guideline, ordinary maintenace consists of:
refilling the water reservoir as required,
keeping the steam wand and/or the milk auto-frother clean,
keeping the pod holder clean,
general cleaning of the exterior

How do I clean the pod holder section of the machine?
In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. In practice, it is as simple as running a "blank" run of water (i.e. without a pod in the machine) for a few seconds when finished using the machine.
How do I clean the steam wand and the milk auto-frother?
The steam wand just needs to be wiped with a cloth after each use.The milk auto-frother can be cleaned either by running water through the frothing system for a few seconds instead of milk or by removing it and rinsing it with hot water under a tap.Warning: Steam wand and auto-frother may be hot after use.
How do I clean the exterior of the machine?
You can simply wipe it with a wet cloth as required. No need to use any detergent.

If I sign up for any of your plans, am I locked into a contract?
If you sign up for a casual plan, you are not. The contract can be cancelled at any time by either party.However, if you decide to sign up for a 24 month period this is a fixed term contract but you will automatically acquire ownership of your pod machine at the end of the term and you will enjoy discounted rates.
Can I change my standing order?
Yes. Just send us a new order form by fax or email.
How many pods in a carton?
All pods are individually packaged so you can order as many as you like of any variety.
What if I run out of pods before the next scheduled delivery?
Just let us know and we will bring forward your delivery. You could consider increasing the total quantity for the following orders.
What happens if my pod machine breaks?
Notify us immediately and we will give you a replacement machine while yours is being fixed. You will only be charged for the repair if you are responsible for the damage (e.g. through lack of care or not adhering to the manufacturer's instructions).
